Dark Tides publication day

24th November 2020

My new novel, Dark Tides, is out today, and I'm so pleased to share it with you all. This is the second book in my Fairmile series, and the sequel to Tidelands, picking up the family's story twenty-one years later.

The book takes place in 1670, when a poor warehouse in Restoration London receives two unexpected visitors. The first is James Avery, a man restored to his wealth and title along with Charles II. He is searching for the one thing he doesn't have, something he believes Alinor can give him – his son and heir.

The second visitor is a beautiful widow from Venice, who claims Alinor as her mother-in-law and tells her that her son Rob has drowned in the dark tides of the Venice lagoon.

Meanwhile, Alinor's brother Ned has left England. As a man who served in Cromwell's army, he finds himself unable to live under the restored monarchy. He makes his way to New England, where he tries to make a life between the worlds of the English colonists and the American Indians even as it seems war between the two is inevitable.

This book was a pleasure to research and write, and the story takes us from Restoration London, to the golden streets of Venice, and to the contested frontier of early America. I really hope you enjoy it. You can order Dark Tides at these links:
